Chapel of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker

The Chapel of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker in Novosibirsk was built in 1915 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the House of Romanovs and symbolized the geographical center of the Russian Empire. The chapel was destroyed in 1930. On the 100th anniversary of Novosibirsk, the chapel was rebuilt and in 1993 consecrated by the Bishop of Novosibirsk and Barnaul Tikhon.

The icon of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker with his holy relics is a particularly revered icon. It was donated to the city of Novosibirsk by the Holy Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexis II on 24 May 2002.

Stop 2Church of Martyr Boniface of Tarsus

The Church of Martyr Boniface of Tarsus was consecrated by the Metropolitan of Novosibirsk and Berdsk Tikhon in 2012. The church runs a Sunday school, a library, a brotherhood of Orthodox explorers and a social department. The icon of Martyr Boniface of Tarsus with his holy relics is the church’s most venerated icon.

Stop 3Church of Saint Apostle Andrew the First-Called

The church was consecrated by the Metropolitan of Novosibirsk and Berdsk Tikhon on 24 June 2017. The parish runs a Sunday school for children.

Among the church’s most revered icons and sacred things are the icon of Saint Apostle Andrew, the First-Called, with his holy relics; the icon of Saint Spyridon of Trimython with a part of his vestments; the icon of Sergius (Srebryansky), righteous confessor, archimandrite, with his holy relics; the icon of the Holy Virgin «Tolgskaya».

Stop 4Chapel of George the Victorious

The chapel was built and consecrated in 2002 in the square near the Novosibirsk Monument of Glory; it was dedicated to the Siberian soldiers who died for the Fatherland.

Stop 5Church of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker

Around 1926, the church was built and consecrated in the name of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The priests who served in the church in the 1930s suffered a tragic fate: many of them, as well as members of the parish and ordinary believers, were executed by shooting and the church closed in 1938. After the war, in 1946, at the request of the faithful, the authorities allowed the opening of the church. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, mural decorations were made in the church. Since then the activities of the parish have not stopped.

The church’s most revered icons include the icon of the Holy Virgin «The Seeking of the Lost», the icon of the Holy Virgin “Iverskaya” with the holy relics of Saint John the Baptist, the icon of Saint Innocent of Irkutsk.

Stop 6Church dedicated to the Icon of the Holy Virgin “Kazanskaya”

When the parish was founded in 1992, the public divine services were held in the premises of one of the institutes of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The church’s construction started in 1996. In 2012, on the National Unity Day, which coincided with the holiday of the Kazan Icon of the Holy Virgin, the church was consecrated in honour of the 400th anniversary of putting an end to the Time of Trouble in Russia. The basement church was consecrated in the name of Reverend Sergius, Hegumen of Radonezh, All Russia Wonderworker.

The most venerated icons and sacred things in this parish include the church’s icon of God Mother «Kazanskaya»; the icon of  Apostle and Evangelist Luke, with his holy relics; the icon of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, with his relics and a part of his coffin from the town of Myra in Lykia; the reliquary with the holy relics of Saint John Chrysostom, blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky, Great-Martyr Barbara and other God’s Saints.

Stop 7Church dedicated to Saint Preeminent Apostles Peter and Paul

The parish came to exist in 2003. From 2008 the church was under construction and in December 2013 it was consecrated by the Metropolitan of Novosibirsk and Berdsk Tikhon.

Among the church’s most revered icons and sacred things are the reliquary with the holy relics of Saint Preeminent Apostles Peter and Paul; the reliquary with the holy relics of Russian Saints – Saint Luka of Crimea, Saint Innokentiy of Moscow, Saint Makariy of Altai, Reverend Serafim of Sarov, Reverend Nikita Stylit, Reverend Amvrosiy of Optina Pustyn’, Reverend Iov of Pochayev, Reverend Iona of Odessa; the icon of Nicholas the Wonderworker, with the holy relics.
