About us
The cultural route’s project “Holy places of Undivided Christianity” was born as the result of the historic meeting of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill and Pope Francis in Havana (Cuba) on February 12, 2016. The initiator of the creation of the route was the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, which provided financial support to the project. The author of the idea is Miguel Palacio, a historian, journalist, ecclesiastical diplomat, adviser to the general director of the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature named after M.I. Rudomino, a participant of the meeting of Patriarch Kirill and Pope Francis and their translator at the talks.
The idea of the route was brought to life by the Library for Foreign Literature which is one of the most influential and well-known Russian cultural institutions where 10 cultural centers of various countries successfully operate, active educational activities are being conducted, great attention is paid to the development of intercultural and interreligious dialogue.
On July 24, 2018 the project received a new stage in development, when the Library, together with the Interregional Union of Tour Operators, established the Association of Specialists in the Field of Cultural Routes “Holy places of Undivided Christianity”.
