Hungarian initiative in the Holy Places of Undivided Christianity project

A partner of the Association of Cultural Route Professionals "Holy Places of Undivided Christianity", the Eötvös Loránd University Library and Archive, joined a large-scale project initiated by Russia in the second half of 2021. Inspired by one of its main ideas, namely the selection of memorial and museum documents related to the saints and the history of the Church before the East-West schism in 1054, a new book exhibition was opened at the Library in Budapest.

As part of the cooperation with the Holy Places of Undivided Christianity project, the "Holy Places" chamber exhibition, housed in the old book repository of the Library, is open from 18 September 2021 during the Hungarian Cultural Heritage Days. Registration for the visit in Budapest can be made by emailing titkarsag@lib.elte.hu.

Our partners in Hungary are considering this book exhibition as one of the focal points of a new international cultural route. This mini-route to Budapest and its surroundings is currently being elaborated. More in-depth and expansive in content, it will cover not only book culture monuments, but also places associated with the spiritual legacy of the common Christian Saints.

The organizers of the exhibition note: "We will take part in the presentation of Europe's common cultural foundations and values by presenting museum documents on this theme. As part of the European cultural itinerary, in addition to guided tours, we also hold various book presentations for our guests."

More information about the project can be found on the website.
