Cooperation “on the Margins” of ALMA: the State Public Historical Library of Russia and the Oblast Universal Scientific Library of Saratov Became Members of the Association “Holy Places of Undivided Christianity”
On 20 April, 2021, at the Library for Foreign Literature (LFL) and „on the margins” of IV International Library Forum ALMA (April Library Moscow Agenda), „Shaping the Future of Libraries”, Memoranda on the accession of new partner cultural organizations to the Association „Holy Places of Undivided Christianity” were solemnly signed.
The State Public Historical Library of Russia in the person of Director Mikhail Afanasiev joined the project. So did the Oblast Universal Scientific Library of Saratov in the person of Director Lyudmila Kanushina. The signing ceremony was held at a special place, renowned for its spiritual meaning and influence, that is the Memorial Office of Yekaterina Genieva, LFL General Director in 1993 – 2015, a distinguished philologist and initiator of many important international cultural and educational projects.
An agreement was reached with Mikhail Afanasiev, who is also President of the Russian Library Association, regarding the selection of materials from the collections of the State Public Historical Library of Russia to provide the relevant content for the cultural route of „Holy Places of Undivided Christianity”. The discussion with the Director of the Oblast Universal Scientific Library of Saratov, Lyudmila Kanushina, one of the most dynamic regional LFL partners, focused on reference points for the start of a close interaction: planning joint scientific and practical activities, selecting rare books from the book holdings of the leading library of the Saratov Region.
The Association „Holy Places of Undivided Christianity” is open to interaction and invites cultural, educational and religious organizations of European countries to cooperate in the framework of the European-wide cultural tourist route: email@example.com.
