On 7 April, 2021, an online-meeting took place between representatives of the European Institute of Cultural Routes (EICR) and the Library for Foreign Literature (LFL) in the person of Miguel Palacio, Deputy Director General for Interregional and International Cooperation, and Polina Avtonomova, Leading Methodologist at the LFL Centre for Coordination and Support of International Activities. The EICR party was represented by the Executive Secretary of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, Director of the European Institute of Cultural Routes Stefano Dominioni and the Head of EICR Project Department Carolina Clark.
The meeting discussed the development of activities of the Association “Holy Places of Undivided Christianity” and the preparation of the European-wide cultural tourist route «Holy Places of Undivided Christianity» for certification at the European Institute of Cultural Routes in 2021-2022. The discussion centered on procedures for submitting an application for certification and the further processing by experts of the Council of Europe, including the latest changes, basic requirements and the relevant EICR rules for submitting bidding documents.
At the moment, the working group of the project « Holy Places of Undivided Christianity » actively cooperates with cultural, educational, scientific and religious institutions in the regions of Russia and Europe, which was also mentioned during the meeting. The interaction with the European Institute of Cultural Routes will continue on a regular basis with a view to seeking advice and scientific and methodological assistance, as well as looking for partners and sharing experiences and knowledge.
A reminder: in October 2018, the Russian State Library hosted an international conference “Cultural and Spiritual Tourism as Factors for European-wide Dialogue” with the participation of Stefano Dominioni and Gerard Bohm, Manager of the European Association «The Way of Saint James».
