On November 27, 2018 a round table “Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. The Path of Faith and Enlightenment” took place at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. The meeting was initiated by the Representation of the Holy See at the Council of Europe and devoted to cultural routes related to spiritual development and enlightenment.

The round table also raised the issue of attracting a new audience, including youth and secular, to the cultural routes of the Council of Europe. The educational component of the routes was separately noted.

The preparation process of the cultural route "Holy Places of Undivided Christianity" was presented by Svetlana Gorokhova, Director for international and educational activities of the Margarita Rudomino All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature (LFL). The project originated in discussions at the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and is actively supported by it. Substantive and administrative activities on the project are carried out by a team of specialists: Miguel Palacio, Head of the Association "Holy Places of Undivided Christianity" and Advisor to the Director General of the "Inostranka"; Anastasia Dyatlovskaya, Director for Interregional Activities, LFL; Liana Barseghyan, Specialist for International Projects, LFL.

Introducing the only speaker from Russia Svetlana Gorokhova, Archbishop of Oviedo Jesús Sanz Montes repeated the famous words of Pope John Paul II that Europe has two lungs (Catholicism and Orthodoxy), without each of which it cannot fully breathe.
